Pigeon creates community by confronting the customs, people, laws, institutions, attitudes that tell us that we are not at home in the place we live.

With no language in common, our days are filled with misunderstandings... Some are hilarious, some are near-disastrous!
I been in this country for 20 years. So why do I put myself through this?... Because I believe that those of us who have been here longer -or our entire lives- have a duty to take on some of the discomfort and risk experienced daily by our brothers and sisters with less time on the path...
To live and work in that shaky space with them.
That is the meaning of welcoming. It's not just a friendly door mat. Welcoming is an action verb.
And trust me my life does feel like an action movie at times! A comedy and a drama too. And I am so grateful for our interactions providing some of the adventure I crave so much...
But there is one time when Ylli and I don't need google translate: when we are following the same beat and harmonizing with each other!
I miss this...
The pedicab of course. I was a pedicab driver for 2 years in NYC -loved it so much- and try to support my pedi-brothers and sisters everywhere I go...
But the warm weather, warm people and the whole day with nothing to worry about but song lyrics, beats, arrangements and what we gonna eat next... 🌞🎢
I have such a long list of rock n' roll fantasies... and trust me playing in a thrift store has always been right up there. As of last night that dream has come true!!!
🎢🎢
Thank you Matt Baker and Ylli Brekofca for being excellent partners in crime and for Tae Chong and Catholic Charities for helping me put this notch on my belt.
Yesterday was the opening reception for the Fikiria space at Threads of Hopes. Go check it out!
Oh am we made their sign too πŸ™‚

When dismantling a barn to reclaim lumber, I only ever make 2 face...

Thanks David Allen for thΓ© pics and the memories of a fun day!
Ylli likes to show off his big-ass chisel...
We indulge him.
By some coincidence I arrived in Guatemala 70 years to the day after my cousin Busi -aka Don Conrado- arrived in Guatemala.
Like many others in my family he was fleeing the situation in Hungary post-WWII and Guatemala is where he came at age 22 and made a life for himself as an expert on πŸ„ milking.
He has blessed me by fathering quite a few more of my cousins... some I still haven't met.
But I am grateful for SO much family time on this trip!
And for having such a fun and welcoming family. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ΉπŸ™πŸ½β€οΈ
Cousin Kornel is a Producer and DJ in Guatemala. We met in person 4 years ago when he was visiting the States and we drove to Montreal together. We been collaborating musically ever since, thanks to digital files and Dropbox...
Last week was our opportunity to go on more adventures and work on our songs at Studio KameLeon in Amatitlan...
I came back with so much new material... including the draft for my first Mariachi!
Much gratitude to my guide and brother-in-song!
Please check out @kornel.wav
Back in Maine.
Back on the job after 14 years!
No not really, but still the most amazing job I ever had (besides performing music) and had to drive this baby to remember the thrills...
❀️ being in the seat again!
Rode pedicabs in NYC for 2 years. And sadly it was before phone cameras so I never captured myself in action... So I will spend the rest of my life annoying pedicab drivers all over the world for pictures...
Notice Augusto the driver taking a rest and laughing! Also I really try to resist taking pictures of locals when traveling because I don't think it's respectful as a Westerner but trust me Augusto looks in amazing shape!
Pedicab driver solidarity forever πŸ’ͺ🏽
A hot bath is usually my only 10 minutes to relax in the day... (unless I fall asleep then it turns into an hour...)
But 104F water pouring straight out of a volcano? And nothing else to do all day but go home to eat and mix music? 🎢
Pure love.
