Pigeon: What do you care? you live in NYC now...

T.: That's right I have been here for barely a year and a half. People say I am a New Yorker now... I lived a decade in Maine and I would have never thought of calling myself a Mainer. I was always picked on for my accent... People would ask me suspiciously where I was from...

Pigeon was motivated to start the MAINER Project in June 2015 when the Governor of Maine threatened to ignore Federal Law and deny General Assistance to asylum seekers. Today the Project has taken a much broaden dimension as so many people in Maine have reacted viscerally to the Pigeon's posters. Q & A sessions after Pigeon presents his Project may last up to an hour and a half!

Political rhetoric against immigrants has toughened while people in Maine are still getting fired up over the question of: "Who has the right to call themselves a Mainer"?

Pigeon has been invited to extend the MAINER Project with: Maine Humanities Council, Maine Historical Society, University of Maine at Farmington Museum of Art, the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine and MODSpoke?Berwick Arts Association.
